another tiny update

I want to thank everyone who has helped us out and sent their thoughts and prayers. It has been a huge help and is very much appreciated. I am feeling a lot better but still trying to take it easy. I am not taking the pain meds anymore but do have to take my ultram on a regular basis. As far as incisions, all is healing perfectly. I have finished my antibiotics and there is no infections lingering around. I do get fairly tired quickly and I am still having to limit things I lift and move, it is hard to limit yourself to not touching things that are over 10lbs. I was worried about the hormones being all out of sorts but so far so good. I do find my self teary for no reason but no hot flashes or anything. The doctor was pretty sure I wouldn't have to many issues because of the Tamoxifen I was taking and the fact I had already gone through most of the pre menopause stuff after the chemo therapy. Anyway that is my little update, so far so good. And again thank you to everyone who has kept us in your thoughts and prayers and who have brought dinners and helped with getting Sydnie to work. Love you all

Tiny update

I have been doing ok, cutting back on the pain meds. But this morning I started getting fevers and chills. I am thinking I have another infection or something. Not feeling great at all. I have a doctors appt tomorrow at 9:30 and will do my best to update. Thank you to everyone who has helped out, it is greatly appreciated. I have had many ask what they can do to help. The big thing I am running into is Hunter. He does not want to leave the apartment but he does want to go out and play on the playground. What would help is if someone wanted to come and play for an hour or so when Syd is gone. Bring your kids and let them play on the playground with Hunter. It is nice and has a little bit of shade, a nice paved walk way that the kids ride their scooters and bikes on and a large grassy area. Feel free to text me 801-661-4949, email or message me here or on Facebook. thanks again for everything!

a little update

Today has been an extremely long day. I barely slept last. About 4:30 the nurse took my catheter out, shift change was at 6:30 and I had fallen asleep and did not have anyone help me get up to go to the bathroom. I tried going two different times and could not. By 10 my pain level was back up to a 10 and they put the cath back in. They just took it out again at 7pm. I will update some later

update

So I am pretty drugged and loopy so right now I will just be copying and pasting information that was updated on my Facebook page. I will do my best to give more detailed information as the pain gets under control. I arrived at the hospital at 5:30 am, at 7am I was taken to surgery floor and at 7:30am taken in for surgery. Surgery went well and lasted until 10:30 or so. The doctor did not see anything cancerous! We still have to wait 4-5 days for the frozen section results so I am waiting until then to do the happy dance. My sister posted around 10:30 am: Well just wanted to update everyone on my sis the doc came out and said as far as she can see there is NO CANCER. Still have to wait for the pathology reports to confirm but it's looking good — with Lynda Ostler. around 11:30 I posted I am drugged but feel free to text or message me. My pain rating up until 3 was between 8 and 10. I had morphine and percocet when the nurse decided to make her way to my room. My first morphine was around 11, second was close to 1:30 and last was around 3. My percocet was around 12:30. I spoke with the nurse about my pain not being under control around 12:30 and she suggested that she contact the doctor. This is when she gave me a perocet. I spoke with her again between 1 and 1:30, I should have had my morphine at 1 but she did not make it and I had to have her paged and she finally made it close to 1:30. At 2:20 I had the nurse paged because my back had started to really hurt which led to other parts of my body to hurt. I had to have her paged again at 2:35 because she did not make it in.Again I had her paged at 2:45, they actually had the assistant paged to come help me. By the time they both made it to my room at 2:50 I was crying so hard that I couldn't breathe and my stomach was in horrible achey pain. When the nurse walked in she looked at me and asked how I was doing. I freaked out and yelled at her and asked what she thought I was doing. She said well apparently the morphine is not working. I said you think so? Se proceded to tell me that the percocet didn't work I was like duh! I asked if she had heard from the doctor yet and she informed me that the doctor had not called her back yet. At this time I was speaking very loud and not happy with her at all. She told me that she was going to contact the doctor was earlier and hadn't followed through. I told her it was her fault my pain was out of control because we had not kept up on it. The assistant had been called from his lunch break to come help me. I told the nurse to leave my room and I didn't want to see her face again. Along with some other choice words that were not at a normal speaking level. posted around 3 : Freaking idiotic nurse just got her ass booted from my room. The assistant stayed and helped me. I first had him check my catheter. He confimred that nothing was draining, it had a block somewhere in the hose. He finally got the urine drained out of my bladder by moving the hose around a little bit. I can't remember how much he said but it was a lot. With how much there was this of course did not help the pain I was in. I felt some relief. Next, he called for someone to help pull me up in the bed a little and tuck some more pillows under my back so I could be tilted. Also, checked everything else, blood pressure, temp, o2 and others. The charge nurse came in to help the assistant move me. He ended up being my nurse until 7pm. He checked my infomrtion and asked if I had been given any tramadol, which my response was no. The lovely nurse had not checked my meds to see if there was naything else I could have. The tramadol helped some along with the morphine at 3pm. The doctor approved for me to get a pump with the drug Dilaudid. This has helped with my agitation but has not taken the pain away. I am between a and 7. at least not a 10. I will update more tomorrow.

bright and early

Just found out that I am the docs first appt in the morning. So I will be there with bells on at 5:30am. ;-)

Tomorrow is the day

As the week has gone by I have gotten more sore and anxious. I was so irritable the last two days at work, I am grateful to have not had groups. I am not sure if that is related to the tumor or just nerves but it sucks all the same. At midnight I had to start a clear liquid diet. Luckily, I have not had much of an appetite lately. I will find out out between 2 and 4 today what time the surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. I will update as soon as I know. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help us out over the next month. It is very much appreciated.

3 days and counting...

After an extremely long day at work (where I could not focus for more than 10 minutes at a time) I am finally getting ready for bed. Let's see if my brain will shut off tonight... Since some days I just can't bring myself to type to much I am going to use something a co-worker does with her students. So it will just be a couple things regarding the day. She refers to them as Highs and Lows. I will list them separate below. HIGHS *had a wonderful rain storm today with lots of thunder *Hunter came home *Chris came and visited LOWS: *I have had extreme pain today which has also caused a lovely headache. *called and set up pre-auth for Friday which made this all real and caused more anxiety *had confrontation with someone that I was hoping would not have to happen that is it for today, love and happiness to you all Lynda

If you are intersted in helping out

I have had many of you ask if you can help and I would love to have the help. A friend from work has volunteered to organize everything. Her name is Bethany and you can contact her by phone/text at 801-830-8703. As of now I know that the surgery is the 31st, depending on what has to be done the recovery time can be between 4 to 12 weeks. I will not be able to lift over 10 pounds for awhile. It will also depend a lot on my Fibromyalgia too, crossing my fingers that it doesn't flare up to bad. It has been pretty friendly lately. Sydnie will have her drivers license around the 7th or so of June so she will be able to chauffer me around and run a few errands and get back and forth to work on her. Prior to that help getting her there will be needed. Hunter will be spending time with his dad on the weekends as much as his work schedule allows. Hunter will also be with his grandparents on Tuesdays and my mom on Fridays. I will update more with Bethany as I find out. thanks a ton for all your support, thoughts and prayers
Surgery is the 31st, ct scan and chest xray and more blood work tomorrow. Surgery is at Imc and I will find out on Thursday night what time I need to be there on the 31st.

eating

So just to add a side note, but over the last couple of months I have had little or no appetite. Probably related, no wonder I have lost weight and I was proud of myself for working hard. Anyway, I have lost over 30 pounds since November.

feeling like crap

Not sure if it is the FMS, the weather, the fact that my insides got all moved and pushed around or what but today I am feeling like crap. My stomach hurts, my legs hurt and my head aches. Maybe it is just everything. Anywho, I am working on staying positive even though I hurt. I am one lucky mom with three great kids who I adore. I have the most amazing friends and family to support me through anything. I really am enjoying life just wish the damn trials would not have to be so large.

Here we go again

So the month of May has been crazy. On May 9th, it has been 5 years since my breast cancer surgery. As I have done in the past I went on the Breast Cancer walk the Saturday before Mother's Day, it was beautiful weather. Probably the best weather I have seen for the walk. So this month I went in for my typical follow up visit with the oncologist and with my regular doctor. I had some blood work done that came back with some results not with in normal range. I had to have more blood work done as well as my routine mammogram and an ultra sound of my ovaries and uterus. The blood work was done just to check out the abnormal ranges from the first round. The mammogram came back fine, nothing crazy showing there. The ultrasound I had was on Friday morning, May 17th. I went in around 10am and was back to work around 11. As I laid there watching the screen I could tell there were cysts and some things that were not normal looking. Guess that is what happens when you have a medical background and have had more than your share of ultrasounds. There was also a large mass that I could see on my uterus. I could tell on the techs face that there was a concern. She would not answer my question when I asked her opinion, she only responded with, "the radiologist will have to read it and make a decision". I headed back to work, frustrated and worried. On my way back I stopped at the gas station to put some gas in the Tahoe and freaking locked my keys in the car. I definitely wasn't in the right frame of mind to drive. I got back to work and found out that I had a call from my doctor. I check online with IHC, which is kind of cool that you can look up any of your reports through their website. I saw that the radiologist had already read and written a report on my ultrasound and had contacted my doctor via phone. This also concerned me. At this time it was lunch and I had a difficult time getting through with any of my doctors to discuss the report. It stated that there was a 2.6 x 2.8 x 3.8 cm in size tumor on my uterus along with some cysts and fluid. It was suggest by the radiologist that the tumor was endometrial carcinoma given my past history, the use of Tamoxifen and the way the tumor it self looked. Finally around 1 I got a hold of my doctor. She immediately told me to call a gynocology oncologist(gyn onc for future use). My doctor sent the results over to her so she can read them. The radiologist, my doctor and the oncologist are highly positive that it is cancerous. I have an appt. with the oncologist on Tuesday May 21st and will schedule surgery for the week of Memorial. They will do a biopsy after that and determine if it is truly cancerous and if I need chemo or radiation. So that is the update thus far. Like before I will update as best as I can. Love you all and thank you for all your support again. I appreciate each any everyone of you who read this.
